Rated wicked R

I picked up Fallout 3 over the weekend. I haven’t bought a game in ages, I figured I was due. Besides, it’s motherucking fallout. I get to the register with it, and the girl says “Sorry sir, since you’re under 27 I have to see your ID to sell you this game”. My first thought was “thanks, I’m flattered”. Then I asked “27? really? it’s that good?” She assured me it was.

Is there a new “wicked mature due to permanantly mind altering scenes of violence that will also suck you off” rating that I wasn’t aware of? Or has some group out there gotten so overzealous about selling video games to minors (Give me a second, still need to stop laughing), that they’re carding everyone that looks up to 10 years older than the sell date… as if it was cigarettes or booze. The ATF is going to have to change their name to ATV, the Beurau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Video Games.

I think it’s just stores are paranoid and some sort of “best practice” is if you look under (or are under) 30 (or 27 in this case), they just card you, period.
