300

This is me making a “I saw 300” LJ post.

I saw 300!

I liked it a lot. I went into it admittedly knowing that it was going to be historically inaccurate, but then people enjoy Spiderman movies regardless of the violations to basic laws of physics. I guess my lack of history knowledge of that time period helped in much the same way as most peoples’ lack of physics knowledge.

Anyways… I went into the theater to see a fictional story and was pleased. The movie delivered.

Haven’t seen it yet…Jeff WAS of the mind that it wasn’t historically correct so he wasn’t sure he wanted to see it…then his brother informed him that it wasn’t meant to be and it was from the graphic novel…so now we might get to see it…perhaps next weekend. (so thanks for the input!)

You mean ancient Greece wasn’t populated by Scots who ate nothing but creatine powder??? Nooooooooo!

I want to see this but I dreaded the though of being in a crowded theater full of goons on the opening weekend. I’ll probably wait until I can see it in an empty IMAX theater. I wonder what nipples look like when they’re two stories tall.

IMAX can be tough on the eyes with dark up-close action sequences. I learned that the hard way in Batman Begins. Hard to say how this would be on the mega-screen – probably a mixture of awesome and frustrating.

I’ve seen two mainstream movies on IMAX….LotR (which was awesome because I was sitting near the back) and some horrible Will Smith movie (made even more horrible because I was in the front row). The action sequences did make me nauseous. I’m waiting for an empty theater so that I can sit about 3/4 of the way to the back, but I guess if it’s shot properly for widescreen I could still spend a lot of time cranking my head back and forth.

the only thing that really got to me about the movie after a while was that they wore nothing but metal helmets and leather underwear. seems like bothering with a helmet would suffer from diminishing returns…
