Because of a recent comment in boole‘s journal about filming shitface-ed-ness, I’m prompted to mention a tradition from “The OT” for all my non-Nabisco readers.
Once a year or so… well, for a couple years now anyways, all the guys in the forum get together and have massive beer parties all over the US. Usually there’s one or two main party and several secondary parties. each party has at least one webcam, and there’s a page where each one streams to so we can see everyone in the midst of their drunkedness. Hilarity ensues. There’s even a guy in Japan who calls up the parties on his cellphone and chats to like everyone there for 5 minutes or so. There are very “geek” underlying themes. What with the intarwebcams and being organized on a message board and all… but damn, it’s a good time.
The last one was centralized in Boston. The “Boston Invasion”. We had people coming from florida, california, and all the hell over the place just to be at the central location for this internet beer party and chill with all the people they chat with. It was a damn good time.
I believe the next big OT meet is scheduled in late june tentatively. and it’s going to be in *gulp* Vegas. this is going to be interesting. I will certainly post the link for the webcam page for everyone’s viewing pleasure.
